Hi there— I’m Jade Sun Chavez and I’m an artist with a deep passion for creating pieces of art that tell stories of where I come from and reflect a unique view of the world.

I was born in a land of saguaros and dust to a family full of strong women. I feel like I’ve walked between two worlds as a person of mixed race, Mexican and Chinese. When I think about my life I reflect on the places I’ve lived, and though I moved away for a while to learn and grow, I always find my way back to the desert.

My husband and I live in Phoenix and continue to deepen our roots here, hoping to contribute what we can to the vibrancy of the city.

Though my formal education is in social work and policy, I’ve always felt a gravitational pull to creating art visually and musically. I’m sentimental and I use art in all its forms to commemorate memory of people, places and moments. Art serves as a special way for me to process through identity and both the heavy + light parts of life. The greatest gift art has given me is a space for my heart and mind to rest.

I'm passionate about inspiring others and inviting others into their own creative process. When I’m not making art on my own, I’m creating in community through workshops and classes.
